it'd been one month since school ended and i havent really blogged much. since then, ive been asking myself day after day, what have i achieved in the holidays. i questioned and ponder, till the day we flew off for shanghai. it was only then that i reallly felt relieved of all worldly worries and burden. i felt as if ive left my old shell behind to grow a new one abroad.
the days after promos were spent rushing pw. late nites doing wr, op and i n r. it can be said that pw was sick as hell and im sure my other team mates dint have a smooth time too. but when one endures through hell and fire, the oasis and calm of an after storm would arrive. whatever it is im glad its all over. it isnt somethign which ill wanna look back and reminisce. but it sure taught me the fact that one mans power will not suffice in a place where the strong meets the stronger. what i noe is that a man's determination and strength can be limitless if he persists till the very end. immediately after came the best part of year. SHANGHAI OCIP!!! steady boooohhhh ten short but fun days. it was a great experience, greater than all the kings and queens in the world. if only time hadnt passed so fast. the people we went with were just awesome beyond words, and insane too. xinyi joanne wensi peishan xinwei gwen yuntian kimmin ( i always spelt it as kiN min) yushan qian lei xi an wu fan grace dominique elaine kaiern jiawei ming ren chun kang mao dun jiahao jianmin ( i always spelt as jian minG) jonathan algernon. ms chua ms liew ms tan mr lee and thomas aka noti kia. i have two crazy roommates. one always come out of the toilet without his pants on and the other one is a ge tai wannabe, always trying his best to sing to the tune of lemon tree. the teachers revealed their kiddish side on the trip. turned out that mr lee likes to act cute like jiawei and miss chua likes to suan people. haish. tian li he zai!! and ms liew thinks im junhao whoever that is. when our library was completed, i could the sense of triumph and accomplishment shared by everyone. it wasnt a great feat in comparison of what bricklayers and painters can do. but the emotional attachment to the place and the kids arent what they can achieve. i liked the jia xiang fan too. i could get used to it very easily though the chef doesnt use chopping boards and simply slice the fish at the drain where the dirty water from all our paintbrushes and basins flow. i guess the rest of us loved the food too. wah the mao ce was ultimate man. never go in there unless theres an emergency. but aiyah got used to the ammonia reeking urinals after sometime. the best part was, the deposited stuff flows straight to the farm which grows the vegetables that we eat everyday. wahahahahahaaaA. damn cool. shanghai has really nice food too. wahahaha jiawei and i volunteered to buy the paint stuff and lucky us, miss tan brought us ard to find even better food. waahahahahahahaAAA ate like a pig everyday. the kebab and sausages and xiao long bao and beef noodles and candies and chips and chou dou fu and mai ya tang and many many moreeeee. wahahahaAAAAAconsidering that ive a stomach thats weaker than normal, its a great achievement that the lao sai came after the weekend and lasted through the final few days. maybe the cold weather made it harder for the worms to work. o yea talking about the weather, wooooooooo~ just great manx feels like when you pop ur head into the freezer. sometimes after raining or during the rain, there'll be mist when you speak. wahahahahahaaaaa damn coooL. but the airs really polluted though due to the high traffic and rubbish strewn all over the place. damn i miss the place and the people. the 20 things about shanghai 1. shanghainese smoke like no ones business 2. there arent toilet paper in their toilets 3. shanghainese hardly say thank you, welcome, sorry or excuse me. 4. shanghainese sales persons arent forthcoming 5. taxi drivers are separated from the passengers by a plastic barricade 6. ren rang che, not che rang ren 7. shanghainese drivers honk like crazy, but no one really bothers bout them anyway 8. the outskirts of shanghai is all grey and misty 9. the commercial buildings are tall and are decorated with bright colourful lightings 10. the supermarkets and convenient stores sell lots of milk products 11. the movies and music there are outdated. 12. the clouds enshroud the tip of the skyscrapers, giving a mystical feel 13. the poorest of the poor are found admist the rich and the glamorous 14. the kfc and mcdonalds in shanghai have totally different menus from that in singapore 15. the city is in an illogical mess, with the old and the new cluttered side by side 16. sometimes the old is stashed behind the new, away from the sight of city goers 17. shanghai is highly polluted and the traffic never seem to ease 18. the weather is nice and cool, fluctuating between 8 and 17 degrees 19. if it gets cold enough, there'll be mist when you speak. 20. shanghai isnt the typical chinese city, its highly westernised shanghai ocip rocks my sox. |
